A Good Relationship…

A good relationship can be one of the most wonderful things in the world.  A bad one can turn your life into ruin!

As for me, I have had some good and some not so good relationships.  At this point in my life, I feel good that I can confidently say that most if not all are good.  I have an especially great relationship with my husband.  Sure, we have our differences from time to time.  That’s life...but all in all, ours is a good one.

How about you?  Do you yearn to build a positive relationship with your partner? Would you like to make it grow stronger? The most important thing for you to know is that having a positive relationship takes effort from both of you.  However, you can get it started. Your partner will more than likely to surely enjoy the benefits and follow your lead.

Here are five important practices you can make to nurture a relationship:

Give 100%. Above all else, if you want to build a bond that’s positive, passionate, and longstanding, you need to give 100% of yourself. This is one of the most important things for success, not only in your partner interactions, but life in general.

There’s no “half way” when it comes to giving in a relationship. You’ve got to give freely of yourself if you want it to work. You cannot expect to receive from your partner… if you do not give in return.

Focus on loving your partner. In nurturing a relationship, your primary emphasis should be on simply loving your partner. Show your love in both words and actions, in all you say and do.

You’ve heard it said, “Actions speak louder than words.” This is definitely true when it comes to a good relationship.  BUT, your partner still wants to hear you say, “I love you.” Be generous with compliments and mean what you say.

Practice acts of giving. The things you do for your partner really do make a difference. When you love someone, acts of kindness and goodness toward him or her - come naturally.

Don’t do something just because you feel obligated to do it. Things you do for your partner should be done because you want to do them.  Make it a habit to use your actions for building a relationship that’s naturally positive.

Respect your partner in every way. Respect is an important building block of any good relationship.  Demonstrate respect for your partner not only in a physical sense, but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well.

Build a strong friendship. A romantic rapport needs to have stability, strength and deep roots that come from a strong friendship. With a meaningful friendship as its foundation, your relationship becomes stronger and more lasting.

When you work hard to build a strong friendship, you can be assured that your relationship is prepared to withstand whatever life may throw at you in the future.

Give to your partner those things you’d like from him or her.  You will create a stronger bond when you do.  This is also another important practice for creating and nurturing and a good relationship.

Following these practices can have a positive impact. Once you begin taking care of your relationship and making a conscious effort to improve it, you’ll see a stronger, more positive bond blossoming right before your eyes.
